A new type of personal growth education mixed into the local culture.
It began with a conversation with a small business owner about the many challenges they face – typical problems after Covid and a weakened hospitality based economy. While the virus seems to have left, the empty streets and vacant businesses have left a whole in the hearts of the people.

Knowing how education plays a role in the situation and the need for academic intervention on a significant scale, the solution began to emerge. Talking with the local people and listening to the stories of the “glory days” or Puerto Rico mixed into my own perceptions about the island and the history. My previous programs could be improved and updated for this specific student base. Adults and teens who need instruction on financial matters and personal growth work with communications and problem solving.
The MTV Club is meeting weekly at Art BB Dogg Cafe in Villa Palmeras and the written curriculum is being developed as the Comemos y Aprendemos program – we eat and learn. It seems so natural to feed your mind and your body, with Joy West!
